[/u] Twistedtalon(father), Snowfeather(mother), and Fernpelt(sister). All dead.Name:
Hookclaw
Age:
30 moons
Gender:
She-cat
Clan:
ScarClan
Rank:
Warrior
Appearance: Beautiful she-cat was doomed by her looks in ScarClan, such a soft pelt is completely undesirable. How can you be tough if the fur that covers your body is soft it has to be an example of how weak you are, right? Wrong. Dead wrong on Hookclaw's part. So what if her creamy white fur is smooth and soft instead of rugged and dark. Her face is covered in a mask of gray, ending in a cute black nose. Ears and legs also held the same smoky gray color. Her long tail ends in the gray too, besides that the rest varies from a cream to a lighter white color.
Hookclaw isn't the largest cat ever, in fact you could say that she's rather small for a fierce ScarClan warrior. You'd be right, her size has often made her ridiculed in the Clan. By now you're probably thinking why is she even in ScarClan if they think she's a small and soft cat. Well she is a master at fighting despite her size, she can be considered quite a respectable fighter even for ScarClan. As for her hunting skills they are just as superb, seeing as she is light and agile, quickly outrunning most other ScarClan cats. She can even catch the rabbits that sometimes find their way into ScarClan territory.
This powerful beauty got her name and most of her fighting skills from one thing; her claws. Longer than any natural cats, they are always visible and are very dangerous to come in contact with. When unsheathed they often have a very hooked appearance, like the claws of an eagle or a hawk. Thus the name Hookclaw had been born. It'd definitely in your better interest to stay on the good side of Hookclaw if you don't want to meet her fury.
Finally we get to Hookclaw's eyes. Like beautiful sapphires they match perfectly with her smoky gray and creamy white. However no one would be idiotic enough to think of them as such, instead it would be more fitting to say that they chilled your heart and made your hackles rise. Not in beauty, but in fear, her gaze is more like a bad electric shock. When trained on you it would be hard to not want to bend to her will or drop in submission. She was a force to be reckoned with and she never had a problem showing it.
Her scars are many, but none completely recognizable or prided. Except perhaps the scar straight through her left eye that now twitches whenever she is under a lot of pain, stress, or anger at something. Hookclaw's most prized scar though, is of course the one she received from the Overseer. Proudspirit had been known for his lack of coordination when applying his intricate star pattern and his need for absolute perfection. Hookclaw had been one of his mess ups and had recieved his scar twice, on both her shoulders. This made her quite the celebrity for a few moons, and definently feared by the other Clans.
Personality: Hookclaw has the passive hostility down just like every other respectable ScarClan warrior. In constant practice she tries to remain as calm as possible, a diplomat, and if need be an enemy. Her emotionless shield only ever lets through hostility more than any other kind of emotion. Perfect in the book of all ScarClanners, every cat has their own little twist to the ScarClan emotion; be it a passive kindness, sadness, hostility, or pretty much every kind of emotion a normal cat would show. Though the sought for emotion is hostility and if not that it would have to be calmness.
To her apprentices well Hookclaw is not passive at all in her hostility. Bound by the need to succeed and never wanting to be disgraced by another cat Hookclaw can be rather aggressive and tough. She expects perfection and it isn't unheard of for her to bring back an apprentice long after every other cat has gone to sleep if they don't get something right. She has a sense of fairness though, every apprentice that she has had or will ever have Hookclaw will treat with the exact same ferocity. That was what made her the perfect choice in mentoring Levitypaw. Though Levitypaw probably won't think that she's being very fair! I feel bad for her having to spar with Hookclaw, even with her claws sheathed her blows can still draw blood.
With other Clans she is just as guarded as every other ScarClan cat. Suspicious and entirely untrusting, she thinks every other Clan cat wants to destroy ScarClan. As every ScarClan kit at birth had been told, that their Clan was the best and every other Clan had a grudge against them because of this. Hookclaw is the cat least likely to fall for a cat of another Clan, especially since she seems just as uptight and untrusting around males of her own Clan. She stays true to the Warrior Code though and would no matter what help another Clan cat if they were to fall into trouble.
Under her tough outershell there lies the true Hookclaw. When not surrounded by her own Clan and with someone she trusts and is willing to show her true self. Hookclaw is surprisngly kind and around her late sister she was known to smile and chuckle at her jokes. However after her sister's death Hookclaw's innermost emotions seemed to have disappeared and been filled by just as hard a center as she gives off to her Clan. Hookclaw hasn't smiled since and it is rather hard to believe that she will ever let anyone in again. They'd leave her anyway, right?
Past: Born to the likes of Twistedtalon and Snowfeather, both Fernpelt and Hookclaw got a bit of each of their parents. Hookkit got her mother's pelt and her father's claws and attitude. Fernkit got her father's pelt and her mother's soft and playful attitude. Growing up in ScarClan they learned how to act properly from their parents before being let out of the nursery. No one wants to get embarassed by an emotional kit. Twistedtalon soon died in a border fight and Snowfeather, after leaving the nursery when they could eat fresh kill was crushed by a falling boulder. Fernkit and Hookkit had been taught though that it wasn't proper to show excessive sadness about their death. So they went on and soon were made apprentices.
Hookpaw was named Fishtail's apprentice, he was a decent warrior but it soon seemed that they just didn't fit. He was passively kind and didn't challenge her enough. Fernpaw's mentor hated her, he had wanted Snowfeather as a mate but instead Twistedtalon had taken her, his reaction was to punish her kit for it. Scorchstar quickly saw that the mentors just weren't working out. So the sisters' mentors were switched, Fernpaw getting what she needed from Fishtail. Hookpaw got nothing but pain from Razorwind, who felt even more anger at Hookpaw who had her father's fiery resolve and her mother's looks. One day on the Elemental Plateau he had finally had enough, that or Razorwind had just got too into the fight that they were in. Unsheathing his claws he had launched himself at her and left a large swipe mark across her left eye. At times her vision can also be blurry in it now. Hissing at each other a massive fight broke out, ending in Razorwind's body being flung off of the Plateau, breaking at the bottom. Definetly for the better if you would ever would ask Hookclaw now.
Limping back to the camp after her tussle with Razorwind she refused to be seen by the medicine cat until she spoke with Scorchstar. After a short meeting between the two, Scorchstar leaped onto the boulder in the center of camp and told the Clan of Razorwind's traitorous attack on Hookpaw. This was the only time that Hookpaw had ever smiled in front of everyone. No one knew whether it was out of happiness at being free of his torture, maybe of being able to kill someone, or just plain and simple relief at all that being over. Either way she fainted soon after.
Fernpaw and Hookpaw were on their way to the Right of Passage as soon as Hookpaw got out of the medicine cat den. Fernpaw was up first, the third apprentice to be marked by Proudspirit. Proudspirit was a well-known warrior and it was a higher honor to be marked by him. His scar was a very intricate star pattern that took a good minute or two before it was up to his standards. if it wasn't he would start again on the other shoulder. Fernpaw didn't even seem to blink in that minute process, passing the trial with the name Fernpelt. Next up was Hookpaw, who's eyes shone with determination. As Proudspirit began his final apprentice's scar he finished it, only to grumble some inaudible curse then telling her to turn to the other shoulder. Not even letting out a sigh in fear that she'd have to start training over, Hookpaw had to suffer through the same pain for another two minutes. She passed the test with flying colors and two scars instead of just one, a great honor.
Now warriors the two sisters buckled down and got to work making names in the Clan for themselves. Fernpelt though was beginning to change, getting nervous around everyone, as if she was being hunted. It turned out after she died in a mysterious freak accident on the bank of the Crooked Creek, she was drowned. Though Hookclaw expected the worst, no one would ever figure out what really happened to Fernpelt. It did end up causing a battle against JaggedClan though, but no one could figure out how one of the best fishers and swimmer of the Clan could end up dying in her element. She had been trained by fishtail afterall. This changed Hookclaw for the worst though. Now she had no one to be herself around and she soon lost any connection that she had had with her inner personality. After a few moons she received her first apprentice and trained him to become a warrior. He is an asset to the Clan, as is she. Though Hookclaw can't help but think something was missing from her life.
