Picture
Name: Suntalon
Age: 55 Moons
Gender: Tom
Clan: PeakClan
Rank: Senior Warrior
Appearance: When he was younger, Suntalon was nicknamed the Lion. The fur on his face was so thick as a kit, he looked like a lion with a mane. In fact, it still is, though now the fur that protrudes from the sides of his muzzle resembles more the rays of the sun, thus the name. The fur stays white beneath his mouth, and then suddenly switches to a ginger that comes across the bridge of his nose and to the corners of his mouth. White whiskers help his balance. Beneath his eyes, the tom goes into a combination Norwegian Forest Cat- tabby look, with a light gray color which is striped black.
Down the back of his neck, Suntalon’s pelt thickens and darkens, making a rather tough scruff. Sadly this warrior is practically tortured during Greenleaf because of his Leafbare bound fur, although in the winter it keeps him warm. Luckily, though, it thins out as you go down his back, otherwise he could very well die in the summer. It retains the same gray tabby look as you reach his tail, which happens to be almost solid black, with the thickest fur on his entire body.
Now for some of Suntalon’s more strange features: First of all, his paws are huge; much larger than the average tom. He can do some serious damage with the black, hooked claws that protrude from them, although even if he didn’t have them the size would be enough to knock a cat out. Next, this warrior’s eyes are a strange yellow-green, with darker green flares coming from the pupil. They narrow when he is amused, usually, though also when he gets angry enough.
Personality: Though loyal, I must say that Suntalon is a rather strange cat. The most notable part about him is that he has a sense of humor that no one really thinks is funny, even if he does. He may comment about the weather, then say that the birds must be flying south in the middle of Greenleaf, and start purring with amusement. Some think of him as a father who tries too hard to be funny, is sometimes embarrassing, yet he’s the most loveable cat they know. Most of the time they end up purring just thinking about how mousebrained that joke was, which only encourages this cat more.
Although being the clan ‘jokester’ Suntalon does have a serious side. If a battle comes around, he is the first to turn to, always giving young apprentices advice about staying as calm as possible and how each clan fights in its own way. Usually the leader brings him into the den with a few other senior warriors and the deputy to discus battle plans, and this tom makes a considerable contribution. One of the things his mentor taught him was how to outsmart his opponent, and the warrior has always lived up to it.
One of Suntalon’s favorite hobbies is speaking with the elders. Like a kit, he sits and listens to their stories, fascinated by how much they know. He has learned a lot from them, and is most likely the most knowledgeable cat on the clan history. In fact, as an apprentice the only chore he actually enjoyed was the Elder’s Den, because they would tell him stories about brave ScarClanners and noble JaggedClanners. Of course they talked about PeakClan the most, bragging about how their clan was the best in the forest. Nevertheless, he did learn a lot about all four clans, and this knowledge ended up helping him in the future.
Past: The two parents of this cat were loyal PeakClanners. His mother was of average size: a regular tabby, and his father was a Norwegian Forest Cat, and a big one at that. They had one kit, and named him Sunkit, after the ‘rays’ that came from his face. Sadly, though, he never really got to know his mother as she died from a Rock slide when he was only two moons. As Sunkit was still dependent on milk, he was given a foster mother: Vixenfur, who was a kind and nurturing mother. His three foster siblings accepted him immediately, happy to have a younger brother. They had to leave to be apprentices when Sunkit was only four moons, though, and left him to be bored in the Nursery for another two moons.
Finally he managed to make it to six moons, and was given the mentor Pinefall. He was a young, inexperienced warrior who had no idea what he was doing. Their first training session consisted of him trying to remember which was which: A rabbit crouch and a Bird crouch. By the time he remembered he had confused Sunpaw so much that a more senior warrior had to come and chastise Pinefall and re explain everything to his apprentice. After a while, he ended up basically being mentored by the senior warrior: Fallenwhisker, who tagged along every training session to help his pathetic mentor. To this day Suntalon believes he would’ve failed his trial without the help of the senior warrior.
Then the day came for Sunpaw’s apprentice trail. Surprisingly he wasn’t nervous, and entered the field of rocks with confidance. Soon, though he became lost and paranoid, wondering if the already-failed-once apprentice: Hailpaw, would find him. Luckily, though he made it through (without marking any of the five rocks), and passed the first half of the trial(barely). The second half was luckier. On the first night he found the apprentice Raggedpaw asleep beneath a large rock. The poor failed apprentice was humiliated as was his mentor, and had to redo training. Sunpaw was named Suntalon without the respect of a senior warrior.
Life in PeakClan went on as normal for a while, until Suntalon and his new mate Goldenflight decided to have a kit. The warrior’s son was born in Leaf-fall and named Quickkit for his small body type. Suntalon watched proudly as his kin had a healthy kithood and moved on into apprenticeship; receiving Glowinglight as a mentor. He excelled in everything and was made a warrior at only ten moons after marking four of the five stones and finding the apprentice in the second part of the trial. Suntalon was more proud than a father could be.
Then, during a boarder fight with JaggedClan, Goldenflight was killed by an ambitious warrior named Strongclaw. Less than a moon later the cat was killed by Blackcough, which was lucky for him considering Suntalon would’ve murdered him. For several moons he and Quickfire grieved, but they knew they had to move on. Finally the two accepted that Goldenflight was in StarClan now, and began to get on with their daily lives.
At the age of 50 moons the tom received his first grandkits: Flowerkit and Raykit. Their family now lives happy and healthy, although Suntalon has noticed that Quickfire is a little over protective of his mate…
