Scorchstar

Gender:
Tom
Clan:
ScarClan
Rank:
Leader
Appearance:
Scorchstar is the perfect match for ScarClan, the image that everyone would expect of him. Built like a lion, as his warrior name would suggest, he is meant for combat. So that is what he has conditioned his body for. Rippling muscles are hard to not notice, especially with his thick yet rather short pelt. Though he can make for an excellent hunter no one ever hears stories about him like that. No all you'd even consider hearing about this impressive cat is about his combat skills, from ambushes to leading a battle patrol Scorchstar has always been the cat for the job.
Scorchstar is a simple tabby, dark gray brown makes up the main coloration of his pelt. The thick black stripe drip down his back in the normal tabby fashion, the only light portion of fur makes up a dusty white on his chin and the underside of his jaw. His whiskers are an odd assortment of black and white, longer than normal, all the better for a night raid of PeakClan's camp. Though kept extremely neat and tidy, always slicked back and shiny, Scorchstar's fur is not in the least bit nice feeling. In fact it's surprising that Scorchstar can make his fur look so smooth because it feels as though he had never washed it in his life. This often left Scorchstar prone to getting briars and thorns in his pelt, not that he'd care.
Scorchstar wasn't named after his rather dull and camoflouged pelt, as you can see, but for his eyes. They are like two spheres of molten sun, that scorch through any that have broken a rule with all the heat of the sun. In the light or in a particular angry state the gold can appear to be flowing, like magma travelling slowly through the depths of Hell. Most cats say that these eyes are the most memorable piece of Scorchstar. His eyes can strike fear even into the biggest cats, not that many could be much bigger than him. Even in his most calm and content moments you can always find Scorchstar's feral soul lurking dangerously in the darker gold portions of his eyes. Beware the scorching sun's flames or you may end up with those eyes burned into your memory.
Scorchstar's pelt is overthrown by the many scars that battle gives to those that serve as it's loyal soldiers. Through both eyes he has the marks of enemies claws, some on his muzzle, and even a chunk of his right ear is missing. Those are the scars most noticeable, the rest all looked alike as they were tossed all around the rest of his pelt. The one that gives Scorchstar the most pride however, is the scar he recieved to become a warrior. His Overseer had been a near retirement senior warrior by the name of Sunblaze, a wonderful example of a loyal warrior. He had naturally taken the sun as his defining Scar. Scorchstar was given a special one though, as Sunblaze had seen great things in him so had to make his specially for him. So Sunblaze had fashioned a swirl circle on Scorchstar's chest with wavy rays coming off it. Scorchstar was the only one to ever recieve such a marking, the scar was later added to the Wall of Scars in order to best preserve his scar.
Personality:
Scorchstar has no personality, well at least no emotions. He had long ago become void of anything more than the perfect passiveness that ScarClan had desired of him. The Clan was pretty sure that Scorchstar didn't have even the slightest remains of whatever he would've been like. Only a few personality traits would ever be allowed to show from him, loyalty, suspicion, and the intense need for everything about his Clan to be perfect. That was the reason in which his soul had seemed to leave to be replaced with what was asked of him. Though Scorchstar was a very desirable tom, the she-cats of the Clan had long ago seen that Scorchstar was unavailable. Not that anyone else had ever managed to steal what remained of his heart, unless you could count ScarClan. Scorchstar just never seemed to let anything get in his way when it came to serving his Clan, a mate and kits would do just that.
In battle Scorchstar is anything but friendly. A ferocious monster, bent on making any enemy cat bleed. In fact Scorchstar has never retreated from a battle, even when the leader ordered him personally to retreat. Scorchstar had always been unable to leave a fight until it was all over and his Clan was the victor. Even when a Clan leader Scorchstar has often been known to be reckless, not with his Clanmates' lives but with his own. He had called retreat once, so that his Clan could know that he was fine with them doing so. He however wouldn't leave, some would stay behind only because he hadn't yet left. The only fight that he has ever lost was when he had been an apprentice, the Clan leader had had to drag him away.
As a disciplinary, no one could truly beat down on an unruly cat more than Scorchstar could. Letting a cat off easy wasn't in his vocabulary, in fact if he ever did say that while punishing a cat it often meant the opposite. Even kits couldn't get out of a punishment with Scorchstar, he seemed immune to their young charm. He has and still does have a constant need for everyone around him to be just as perfect as he is. Scorchstar absolutely loathes traitors and is more than likely to have a new warrior prove itself with the capture and return of such a cat.
Around other Clans, Scorchstar may be one of the most respected leaders ever, but he definetly isn't the most friendly or trusting. More than not he is the culprit behind a Clan war and often keeps ScarClan in a state of permanant state of war. He's rather cold when it comes to stating ScarClan's obvious dominance over the other Clans. He's infamous for attacking other warriors or leaders that speak ill of his Clan, yet he enjoys showing up to Gatherings to show off his Clan to the other Clans. It isn't that he is completely power-hungry, just assured that ScarClan is always deserving of what it needs.
Scorchstar is one of the best leaders in history, highly respected, but often thought of as a tyrannical beast; too obsessed with showing his power to care or worry about anything else. Well that is dead wrong, Scorchstar isn't in the least bit a braggart of himself, but he won't stop himself from praising the Clan he has given everything for. Scorchstar isn't any more cold than his Clan of brutal cats would expect of him. He has an impossible to stop need to do everything that his Clan wants and can often be considered nothing more than the voice of his Clan. though Scorchstar may not seem the type, he is incredibly just and never does anything he deems as wrong. Scorchstar is the last cat you would ever see break the Warrior Code and he expects all of his Clan to be the same about it. He is also a very spiritual cat, seeing StarClan as the one force besides his own Clan that he would stop for.
Past:
Lightsun and Wavefur were two loyal ScarClan warriors, they fell in love quicker than they could be made warriors. So they had to wait before even thinking of bringing the kits they knew they would have, into this world. Eventually though the time had come for the two young lovers, and soon Lightsun was expecting. She didn't make it through the night. Her four beautiful kits did though, Graykit, Wolfkit, Tanglekit and Scorchkit. Well until the next night when Wolfkit followed her, the cause for the kit's death was unknown. So the three remaining kits were nursed and unloved by Silverfeather, an old queen who didn't care at all for the kits. It would in the end help the three know what was expected of them. Scorchkit was the leader in his time at the nursery, allowing Tanglekit and Graykit to be his double deputies. The three ruled the nursery, and soon would be the stars of the apprentice den.
Scorchpaw was the first to get apprenticed, Jaytalon named his mentor. He was a superb teacher and the deputy of this time, perfect for such a promising, young apprentice. Graypaw was next, recieving Drymouth as a mentor, he was an peculiar cat and would end up dying from blackcough taking Graypaw with him soon after. Tanglepaw though was given a mentor that surprised everyone, he recieved Swallowflight as a mentor. She had recently been a victim of a falling boulder and well no one had expected her to ever recover from the hit. Well she had fought hard, as a proper ScarClanner should, but something was messed up with her system and she was prone to seizing. Swallowflight had never been given an apprentice and perhaps it had been with pity that the leader had given the impressive Tanglepaw such a mentor.
The two remaining brothers began training at once, both surprised but in love with the amount of things they now were expected to do. Taking the opportunity to challenge one another to see who could be the best of the best. Tanglepaw had to be the only cat that Scorchpaw was ever willing to let in his overly hard shell, to the hollow inside that still seemed so friendly to Tanglepaw. Together they doubleteamed many cats in their first battle, always at one another's side. The only cat closer to Tanglepaw than Scorchpaw was, had to be his mentor Sparrowflight, who seemed more in need of his guidance than he of her's. All he really learned from her was that being emotionless didn't have to go all the way through, but it seemed for Scorchpaw that it did.
The two brothers then made it to their Right of Passage, praised by the whole Clan. Both passed with sun Scars from Sunblaze, though only Scorchpaw got the special design. Tanglepaw held no ill feelings about that though, he loved his bother too much to feel such a thing. Scorchpaw felt guilty and he wouldn't hear Tanglepaw's continued reassurances that he was fine with it. They were then given their warrior names, sitting for their vigil as Scorchlion and Tangleweb. Together they'd face many hardships, Tangleweb more than Scorchlion however.
So the two immediatly began working for the respect of a senior warrior, the quickest way to getting an apprentice and having a chance to move forward. Tangleweb took a small detour along the brothers trip on the fast track. What he did? Well he mated with Sparrowflight, she soon was expecting. The medicine cat warned Tangleweb and Sparrowflight that the chances of any kit from Sparrowflight to be living was very slim. They were both willing to take a chance though. Meanwhile Scorchlion was out forging a name for himself within the Clans. So he was soon given senior warrior status, his respected brother joining him as well. Scorchlion recieved an apprentice first though, seeing as Tangleweb was busy with Sparrowflight.
Scorchlion proved an excellent mentor and his apprentice passed the apprentice trial with flying colors, not that you could really judge an apprentice recieving a scar. Sparrowflight went into labor and Tangleweb was blessed with a beautiful daughter, one who wasn't dead as the medicine cat had sworn she would be. So they named her Lifekit appropriatly enough, Scorchlion would never get the pleasure of seeing this kit though. He and Tangleweb were forced into leading a battle patrol to help with a skirmish along the JaggedClan border. That night Sparrowflight had her final seizure, finally dying and collapsing on top of Lifekit, the kit suffocated. Tangleweb was crushed and depended on Scorchlion completely for support. After many moons and his first apprentice Tangleweb slightly bounced back. The two were then named Overseer's back to back, both surviving their time as true warriors of ScarClan. Scorchlion would come close to his ancestor's record of four time Overseer, recieving the honor twice more.
The deputy died while Tangleweb was still Overseer for the second time and no one was surprised that Scorchlion was then named deputy, he would only be in the position two moons though. Quickstar was an old leader and only had a life left and being a ScarClan leader that life was short-lived and was taken in battle as all lives should be; that or saving the life of a Clanmate. So Scorchlion went to the Stone Wall to recieve his lives. All of his blood kin gave him his lives, Quickstar, Jaytalon, and finally Sparrowflight gave him his lives. Sparrowflight told him to tell Tangleweb that she would always watch over him. Scorchlion, now Scorchstar, did just that.
Scorchstar did not have to give as much thought to who his deputy would be as most leaders had to, Tangleweb was the obvious choice and not just because they were siblings. He was an extremely respected warrior and had all the qualifications. A few moons into Scorchstar's leadership they entered a brutal battle with JaggedClan. Rain was pouring down and mud was covering the open clearing covered by jutting rocks. Nothing could be seen between the rain and the many pelts writhing around on the ground. Tangleweb and Scorchstar had been one of them, still fighting side by side. Or at least they had been until they had lost sight of one another. Tangleweb had surveyed the area quickly trying to locate his brother, only to be tackled by an enemy warrior. His head knocked hard againts a sharp rock, blood spraying out. The wound would soon be clotted by mud though and his body wouldn't be able to be found in the mud it was covered in.
Scorchstar would never know what happened to his brother, only that his blood was all over that evil rock. He wouldn't know that Tangleweb lossed his memory then got taken in by the very Clan he would develop the biggest hatred for, JaggedClan. Or that Tangleweb would be renamed Talonstrike, now one of the most respected JaggedClan warriors. No one of the other Clans knew where he had come from, they would just assume that he was a hidden gem that just got found. JaggedClan was afraid though that the unknown warrior could possibly be recognized as a rogue so they kept one of their most prestigious warriors banned from going to Gatherings. Talonstrike has also tied Scorchstar himself unknowingly having just recently been placed as JaggedClan's Overseer. Scorchstar wouldn't know that though and his brother's disappearance would be the main cause for the remainder of his heart to be crushed and thrown under a rock.
