Sky
Name: Skymask
Age: 16 Moons
Gender: Tom
Clan: JaggedClan
Rank: Warrior
Appearance: Though not the smallest of his generation, Skymask is definitely not the strongest. He is of medium size and strength, more fast than strong, and has long legs. The tom is a high jumper and good climber, though does sometimes struggle when it comes to battle. He has the skills, but needs to put a little more thought in attacks and outsmarting his opponent, instead of just throwing his body around. Luckily he was good enough to pass his test, which shows he isn’t the worst fighter in the world.
Skymask’s fur is blacker than the night sky, giving this tom his name. The color covers him completely, from nose to tail tip, except for a small splotch of white on his chest. The warrior’s fur doesn’t usually give him problems when it comes to keeping it tidy, and it dries fast, only making him want to jump into the water that much more.
Skymask’s face is soft and rounded, though the way his fur lays on it makes it look as though he has a sharp jawbone. Whiskers are a dark gray, and it is centered by a small black nose. There is a scar on this tom’s jaw, and his right ear is chipped. Skymask’s eyes are seen as soft and unique; his pupils being like tiny slivers of black in a pale green leaf. His mother almost named him Leafkit because of them, but decided that would be a better name for his sister.
Personality: Skymask is the young warrior version of Lionheart. He is fiercely loyal to JaggedClan, and has a heart bigger than most any cat I can think of. Odd for a tom, Skymask has a sensitive side, and would be a horrible ScarClanner due to his lack of ability to hide his emotions. She-cats can’t seem to stay away because of this factor- after all, who wants a tom that’s all rock and no river? I would say none! Then again, no she-cat wants to have a tom with average intelligence. Poor Skymask is seen as a big kit to a few of his senior warriors, and often he is talked about behind his back, oblivious.
When it comes to younger clanmembers; whether it be kits or apprentices, Skymask can’t seem to stay away. He still has some friends training, and one much older friend that had to redo his training, so you could find this tom near the Apprentice’s Den often. Then again, he could be hanging around the nursery, he loves kits, first of all, and in addition, his sister’s kits are due very soon. Skymask takes care of her, because her mate died in a boarder fight less than two moons ago. She doesn’t seem too upset, though.
Although this tom isn’t the most perfect of cats, he does have a few special skills. First, he is one of the best hunters of his generation. It is very rare that you don’t see Skymask come back without at least three pieces of prey. His second skill is he is somewhat like the clan counselor. If a cat is having troubles, or needs someone to talk to, he’s the tom to spill it out on. Skymask never tells anyone if you tell him not to.
Past: Before Skymask was born, his mother, Bramblefern, had already barred two other litters of kits. She was a full time queen, dedicating her life to pervading strong warriors for her clan. This was her last litter before retirement, so she knew what she was doing. In addition to this, Bramblefern was also strikingly beautiful. She had a fluffy white pelt with pale green eyes. Skymask’s father was the deputy at the time and father to the other litters as well. His name was Blacktail In the middle of Leaffall, the queen gave birth.
After being in great pain all night, Bramblefern looked down at the newest additions to JaggedClan. One was smaller, and looked exactly like her mother: The same fluffy white pelt with beautiful pale green eyes. She named her Leafkit. The other was a rich ebony color, like his father. Bramblefern proudly named him Skykit, after the night sky.
Leafkit and Skykit had a fairly normal kithood, though both of their parents were extremely strict. Every morning, the two would have a short lesson with Blacktail: just little things like basic battle moves and a few hunting crouches. He also taught them things like the warrior code, where the stars came from, and how important it was to respect your elders. By the time the two were six moons, they were more ready then ever.
It was Newleaf when Bramblefern’s kits were ready to be apprentices. Skykit excitedly bounded up to be named a mentor, and was matched with a newer warrior by the name of Flyingflame. He looked just as nervous as Skypaw when the two touched noses. Leafpaw was named the mentor Snowfall, a more experienced warrior than her brother, but he didn’t envy her. They did the first day of training together, and Flyingflame turned out being a great match for Skypaw.
At the age of only 7 moons, Skypaw had his very first battle. He was on boarder patrol with Flyingflame, Birchleaf, and his apprentice Nimblepaw, when they saw a few TimberClanners stealing prey near the boarder. Fed by anger, the four cats drove them off their territory with a few wounds to remember them by. Skypaw came out uninjured other than a wound on the side of his face, and a tiny rip in his ear.
The next few moons went by quickly, and before he knew it, it was time for Skypaw’s Path of a Warrior. As he was led to the bottom of Jagged Hill by the Overseer, Vixenstripe, he felt as though his heart would pound out of his chest. When they arrived, he had to dig his claws in the ground to keep from running away. It had never seemed so big. Finally, Vixenstripe told him he could begin, and Skypaw started off.
On the third day, an exhausted apprentice reached the top of the Jagged Hill, just before dusk. From his mouth dangled a mouse. His paws were bleeding, and he was limping slightly, but Skypaw had made it. He was later named Skymask, and watched as his sister was named Leafwind.
